Alan J. Strassman is a Partner, Chairman of the Board, and Chairman of Martingale’s Management Committee, which is responsible for business policy and strategy. Alan, in addition to working with the Investment Team, also chairs the Risk Committee. Prior to joining Martingale in 1988, Alan was a Trustee, Executive Vice President, and Chief Operating Officer of Batterymarch Financial Management. Before joining Batterymarch, he was the President and CEO of Bernstein-Macaulay, a New York investment management company. Alan began his career in 1962 at Putnam Management Company where he served as a senior portfolio manager and member of the Investment Policy Committee before becoming the Director of Corporate Planning and Development. He was also a member of Putnam’s Board of Directors and Executive Committee.
Alan is a magna cum laude graduate of Princeton University and received an M.B.A. with distinction from the Harvard Business School. A member of the CFA Institute and The Boston Security Analysts Society, Alan has lectured and published numerous articles on investment management and has served as a director of several companies during his career. Alan is also a Trustee of several not-for-profit institutions.
